1. The U.S. Senate recently defeated an amendment introduced by Senator Ben Nelson (D-NE) that would prohibit federal tax dollars from paying for abortions under the current Senate Democrats’ health care bill. Do you agree with the bipartisan group of 45 Senators, including Senator McCain, who do not support the use of federal tax dollars for abortions?

2. As it stands, the Democrats’ health care bill includes nearly half-a-trillion dollars in cuts to Medicare for our seniors. Do you think that senior citizens, who have worked hard and paid into Medicare, should have their benefits dramatically cut and choices curtailed by Senate Democrats?

3. While campaigning for president, Barack Obama pledged to hold open meetings with C-SPAN cameras in the room and representatives from all concerned parties to discuss how to reform our health care system. To date, only Democrats have been invited to participate in the closed-door meetings with President Obama and Democratic Leader Reid. Do you think Barack Obama has broken his pledge to promote a non-partisan health care reform bill?

4. John McCain joined a bipartisan group of Senators to sponsor an amendment to the Democrats’ health care bill aimed at lowering the cost of prescription drugs. If passed, this amendment would save the federal government and consumers $100 million over the next ten years. Do you agree with Senator McCain that with millions of Americans struggling to make ends meet, the need to buy cheaper, safe, imported prescription drugs exists now more than ever?

5. Senators Tom Coburn and John McCain released an oversight report on the economic stimulus examining how $7 billion of stimulus funds have been wasted, mismanaged and or directed toward needless “pork” projects. Examples of projects your tax dollars are funding under the stimulus bill are $350 million for a broadband map that may never be used, $50,000 for anti-capitalist puppet shows and $1.57 million for fossil research in Argentina. Do you think the Obama Administration is spending stimulus funds wisely?

6. Nine months after signing a $787 billion stimulus bill into law, unemployment has risen to 10% and the jobs the Obama Administration promised the stimulus would create have yet to materialize. However, some in Washington are calling for an additional stimulus package. Based on what you know of the previous stimulus bill, would you be inclined to support another?

7. On December 2nd, President Obama announced a new counterinsurgency strategy for the war in Afghanistan. As part of this strategy, 30,000 additional troops will deploy to the region. Do you support the decision to commit these additional resources to Afghanistan?

8. In the same speech in which he announced additional troops for Afghanistan, President Obama announced the United States military would begin withdrawing troops from Afghanistan beginning in July 2011. Do you support the President’s decision to set an arbitrary date for withdrawal?

9. Senators Lindsay Graham, John McCain, Joseph Lieberman and Jim Webb have introduced an amendment to prohibit Department of Justice funds from prosecuting terror suspects accused of masterminding the 9/11 terror attacks in civil court with the same rights as U.S. citizens. Do you agree that the attacks on 9/11/01 were acts of war and we should try war criminals in special military courts?

Federal Appeals Court Rules Against D.C. in Gun Suit
A federal appeals court today revived a suit filed by the owner of a Virginia security company who was targeted, but not arrested, for prosecution in the District of Columbia on an unregistered firearms charge.

The suit, filed last year in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, alleges the police acted in bad faith in securing a warrant for the arrest of Robert Ord, the owner of Falken Industries. Ord is licensed to carry a firearm in Virginia. Since 2006, he has provided security service in the District.

Last year, District lawyers abandoned the case against Ord. But he still sued, on the grounds that the threat of prosecution has cost him hundreds of thousands of dollars in contracts. Ord said he is unwilling to work in the city out of fear he will be arrested and prosecuted on a gun charge. His suit, which seeks damages, was thrown out last year. Judge John Bates said Ord’s fears of prosecution were “mere conjecture.”

But on Dec. 4 the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit ruled in Ord’s favor, finding that the suit met certain thresholds. The court ordered additional hearings. “Obviously we are pleased the matter was reversed,” said Ord’s lawyer, Matthew LeFande, a solo practitioner in Arlington, Va. “Ultimately, we got the decision we wanted.” The court heard oral argument in September.

“Ord’s injury stems from his inability to travel to D.C. and carry on his security business here while armed without fear of prosecution,” wrote Judge David Tatel, who was joined by Judge Judith Rogers. Judge Janice Rogers Brown agreed in part. “That injury is imminent because the District of Columbia has made clear its specific intention to prosecute him.”

District lawyers, including D.C. Solicitor General Todd Kim, said Ord’s claims are meritless since he was never arrested. There was neither a search nor seizure in the case, District lawyers said. The appeals court disagreed.

“True, Ord may not have been seized in the traditional sense, but the arrest warrant effectively exiled him from the District of Columbia, thus restricting his ability to travel and causing substantial injury,” Tatel wrote. (Click here for the opinion.)

The Second Amendment Foundation, represented by Alan Gura of Alexandria, Va.’s Gura & Possessky, supported Ord as an amicus. Arthur Spitzer, legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union of the National Capital Area, was also on an amicus brief supporting Ord.

This is Awsome! Really who would of thought Andy Rooney had any sense?

Good for him!!!
Surprised CBS let him get away with this even though he’s right !

Right on, Andy Rooney!

Andy Rooney said on ’60 Minutes’ a few weeks back:

I don’t think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except numbers. The only things I can think of that are truly discriminatory are things like the United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America. Try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America; and see what happens…Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.

Guns do not make you a killer. I think killing makes you a killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game.

I believe they are called the Boy Scouts for a reason, which is why there are no girls allowed.. Girls belong in the Girl Scouts! ARE YOU LISTENING MARTHA BURKE?

I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a phobia, it is an opinion.

I have the right ‘NOT’ to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off.

When 70% of the people who get arrested are black, in cities where 70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling; it is the Law of Probability.

I believe that if you are selling me a milkshake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of fact, if you want to be an American/Canadian/British citizen, you should have to speak English!

My father and grandfather didn’t die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come over and disrespect ours.

I think the police should have every right to shoot or arrest you if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can’t understand the word ‘freeze’ or ‘stop’ in English, see the above lines.

I don’t think just because you were not born in this country, you are qualified for any special National Assistance, loan programs, government sponsored bank loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, corner store, or any other business.

We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms, so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document; and open to their interpretations.

I don’t hate the rich I don’t pity the poor

I know pro wrestling is fake, but so are movies and television. That doesn’t stop you from watching them.

I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the next operating system that’s better, and put your name on the building.

It doesn’t take a whole village to raise a child right, but it does take a parent to stand up to the kid; and smack their little behinds when necessary, and say ‘NO!’

I think tattoos and piercing are fine if you want them, but please don’t pretend they are a political statement.. And, please, stay home until that new lip ring heals. I don’t want to look at your ugly infected mouth as you serve me French fries!

I am sick of ‘Political Correctness.’ I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in   Africa  ; so how can they be ‘African-Americans/Canadian/British’? Besides,   Africa  is a continent.. I don’t go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from  Europe  . I am proud to be from  America  and nowhere else

And if you don’t like my point of view, tough…

I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE  Canadian FLAG, to the BRITISH FLAG & TO THE FLAG OF THEUNITED STATES OF AMERICA  , AND TO THE REPUBLIC, FOR WHICH IT STANDS, ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTYAND JUSTICE FOR ALL!

I was asked to send this on if I agree, or delete if I don’t. It is said that on average 86% of Canadians/ Americans & British believe in God. Therefore I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a problem in having ‘In God We Trust’ on American money and having ‘God’ in the Pledge of Allegiance. Why don’t we just tell the 15%+ to BE QUIET!!!

If you agree, pass this on, if not delete.
